Tarn Box https://www.yesiwood.be/portfolio-items/tarn-box/ Sun, 13 Dec 2020 14:02:49 +0000 https://www.yesiwood.be/?post_type=avada_portfolio&p=6963

The Tarn is one of the nice counties (“départements”) of France, where we happen to spend a lot of time. A small tribute to all that beauty, in padouk wood. The lighter shade is the sapwood. This is a sawn box, fun to make!

Aussie Box https://www.yesiwood.be/portfolio-items/aussie-box/ Sun, 13 Dec 2020 10:25:13 +0000 https://www.yesiwood.be/?post_type=avada_portfolio&p=6971 Ages ago, I received a small wooden present from an Aussie boss. Quite nicely done, the contrast of the bruised and battered top and the sleek shiny sides. So, with one of my 300-year old oak beams found in our house, this became the replica.

Squared Cinnamon https://www.yesiwood.be/portfolio-items/cinnamon-box-2/ Mon, 16 Apr 2018 13:01:31 +0000 https://www.yesiwood.be/?post_type=avada_portfolio&p=8382

A variation this time on the cinnamon circles of previous boxes. This time, I had a precious leftover of Macassar Ebony to make a square box, and I filled the lid completely with cinnamon stalks. A special box for a special person from a grateful patient.

A Kingdom for my Box https://www.yesiwood.be/portfolio-items/a-kingdom-for-my-box/ Thu, 06 Mar 2014 17:54:40 +0000 https://www.yesiwood.be/?post_type=avada_portfolio&p=7139 A long-time friend of ours once lost the content of her sewing kit in the middle of the street, in the dark, and in the shit rain. It must have been an ungainly sight. I flew to her rescue, and was in good company, as I brought our then-King of Belgium as my soulmate.

“Waarken veu de Keuning” is an Antwerp-Dutch expression, meaning that you are working for free. And, as she is (was?) very pro-Blgium, it seemed fit to use our Belgian national colors to illustrate that.

The dowels in the picture above are to store the yarn bobbins.

Antwerp, (or “Antwerpen” in Dutch) was for the occasion slightly modified into “Antwerken” ( Handy Work)

Each of the trays of the sewing kit can be combined with the others, according to the needs.

King Albert can be proud of her. We miss him.

When he auctionned them, I wanted to provide him with a little bit of consolation. So, I sent him a postbox, with (a copy) of his stamps embedded.
